Detail Project

Preproduction

The preproduction was started on two week before the deadline.  This was not good planning because due to the trouble in finding the good source. This Midterm video was actually about the downtown area but there was a sudden cancelation from the source. Thus, I should change the plan. Then, I decided to make a video about an ordinary person who actually can give us a good lesson about life. Therefore, I decided to interview the local barber at downtown Russellville. On, February 21, I contacted Alfred Maruffo and he agreed for the project as the source. Alfred is a very humble person and charming. He has been doing his job for almost 40 years.

For this long video, I made a general script and also story board. It was not really perfect script, but it helped me in shooting for the right angle and good composition.

Shooting Day

On Monday, March 2, the video shooting began. Since he was working as Barber, the location was taken place in his shop. Based on the story, the location matched with the story of him and his experiences in doing his job. Before shooting, I made the question lists and the storyboard that I showed to him also. This assured me that he known the story line.

It was a Monday afternoon, luckily the sun shines and the clear sky generates more light to fill in the barber shop. The ambiance light also help to light the indoor scene. I shoot him near the window to get more additional fill in. I also captured the outdoor and more B-roll scenes. I was using Canon Tx3 and 18-55 mm canon lens to create wider and close up scenes. For recording, I used wireless sound recording.

Processing

I captured a lot of scenes, for examples, close up, zooming, B-roll, wide scene. On Monday evening dan Tuesday morning, I made the final production. I used Adobe Premier to organize and to process the scenes. I added back sound at the intro and the closing scene. The dynamic rhythm was added to present an active mood. I also include B-Roll to create more original scenes. For finishing, I uploaded the video on Youtube.com and WordPress.com
